West LA Jackrabbits join PCRL

Pacific Coast Rugby League is thrilled to announce that new club the West Los Angeles Jackrabbits has been accepted into PCRL, with the intention of competing in the men’s competition for the 2024 season.

Club founder David Abo is excited to get started: “bringing rugby league to West LA has been a passion project, now finally becoming a reality. I can't wait to get boots on the ground and we’re excited to be part of the growing rugby league family in the US.”

The Jackrabbits become the third club in Los Angeles alongside the Mongrel and the Bandidos, turning the city of Angels into a rapidly expanding hub for the 13-a-side code.

“Year two of PCRL shows signs of being every bit as explosive as year one, and we’re thrilled to welcome the Jackrabbits to the family. We continue to grow rapidly as a league, leading the way as the biggest rugby league organization in North America,” said PCRL Vice President Ben C Calverley.

Founded by a passionate Australian, the Jackrabbits Rugby League is a project dedicated to introducing and cultivating Australian culture through rugby league in the United States. Their mission is to create a welcoming community that embraces the spirit of Australian heritage while fostering the growth of rugby league in America. Jackrabbits aim to embed a sense of home within the community by fostering connections, shared values, and a supportive environment, making every member feel a part of a rugby league family.

Both the League and the Jackrabbits are excited to mark the growth of yet another new club in PCRL, bringing the total number to 9 clubs, with time still left before the January 24 affiliation deadline. Anyone interested in sponsoring, coaching, or playing for the Jackrabbits should contact David Abo at david@lajackrabbits.com.
