Dead Pelicans enter 2024 women’s competition

Santa Rosa club become third California women’s team

The Pacific Coast Rugby League (PCRL) is thrilled to announce that the Santa Rosa Dead Pelicans will be launching a women’s rugby league team in 2024. This marks a significant milestone for the PCRL as it continues to grow and expand, bringing the first team outside of Southern California. They will compete in the PCRL as a part of the inaugural USARL women’s domestic championship.

“We are excited to welcome the Santa Rosa Dead Pelicans women’s team to the PCRL,” said Ady Cooney, President of the PCRL

As inaugural PCRL men’s champions and 2023 national men’s champions, the Santa Rosa outfit will be hoping that their women can emulate their success.

The PCRL is committed to promoting the sport of rugby league for women and girls, with the league’s President and Vice President also the current Hawks national coaches, and the Santa Rosa Dead Pelicans women’s team is a welcome addition to the PCRL, one that will continue to grow the sport of rugby league in the region.

Applications to join PCRL in 2024 are still open, and can be found here.
